Become a Silverado Hospice Volunteer...Attend this On-Line Orientation, Online, Thursday, 09. July 2020
About this Event
Becoming a Certified Silverado Hospice Volunteer is easy and fulfilling...Simply attend an On-Line New Volunteer Orientation offered on Thursday afternoons or Saturday mornings. Attending one 3 hour orientation will provide you with all the training needed to become certified as a Silverado Hospice Volunteer. Must be at least 18 years old.
Actual volunteer service will be within whatever geographical area you designate...we serve hospice patients all over the Dallas/Ft Worth Area.
Once you have completed orientation and have fulfilled all of the requirements of becoming a Certified Silverado Hospice Volunteer (background check, tb test & drug screen), there are many ways that you can share your precious time:
Patient/Family Services Volunteer
Provide companionship for chosen patient(s) by reading to patient, watching TV, listening to music, or simply by just being there with a smiling ****, an ear to listen and a hand to hold.
Volunteers can also provide caregiver relief by sitting with patients while their caregiver does grocery shopping, runs errands or other activities
Time commitment: Visit chosen patient once a week for 1 hour.
Location: Within whatever geographical parameters you set...we have patients all over the Dallas/Fort Worth Area
Memory Catchers Volunteer
Provide our patients the opportunity to share a lifetime of memories and experiences in their own words through digital video recordings, giving family and friends a timeless record and celebration of a special and wonderful life.
Time commitment: Each video requires approximately 1-2 patient visits to complete
Location: Within whatever geographical parameters you set...we have patients all over the Dallas/Fort Worth Area
Office Support Staff Volunteer
Help those who directly take care of patients by answering phones, filing, writing thank you notes, sending sympathy cards, assembling information packets and other office type activities.
Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per week

Essential Oil Program Volunteer
Silverado is constantly seeking new ways to provide comfort to our patients and their families. Volunteers in this program help prepare essential oil blends to be delivered to patients.
Time Commitment: 4-8 hours per week

We Honor Veterans Program Volunteer
Present veterans with certificates of appreciation and attend celebrations honoring our veteran patients on Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
Time commitment: Whatever amount of your precious time you are willing to give
