Faculty - Discussion Forums In Canvas, Columbia College Chicago, Wednesday, 27. February 2019

The discussion forum feature in Canvas allows for asynchronous communication between students and faculty as either an extension of an in-class discussion or as weekly discussion for an online class. This session addresses strategies for designing questions/prompts to promote active learning and improve student engagement throughout the term.
In this session, we'll cover:

Creative discussion forum ideas (bring your own as well), including video and audio options.
Discussion forum creation in Canvas, including attaching grading rubrics.
Easy and efficient grading using Canvas’ Speedgrader feature.

Special Note:
Instructors are encouraged to bring their own laptop computers.  Academic Technology will have limited Dell PC laptops on hand as well.
