Lunch and Learn with Lorri Antosz Benson, The Standard Club, Tuesday, 05. March 2019

Adoption seems to be a topic which is growing in popularity and scope. It’s been the subject of feature films and is a main theme on many television shows. Everyone knows someone who is either adopted, or has adopted or has an adoption connection in their family. And, many of the lessons found in adoption apply to any family life or parenting situation. Adoption stories are complicated, complex and often beautiful portrayals of the best in humanity. And that’s why people are drawn to them. Look at Lion, This is Us, Instant Family, and A Chance In the World - all recent film/television accounts of adoption.
Lorri Antosz Benson will join us at The Standard Club to discuss these stories and her personal experiences through her memoirs To Have And Not To Hold, and Adopting Hope.To Have And Not To Hold covers the relinquishing of Benson's first child, Aimee, for closed adoption, and the subsequent development of a flourishing relationship with her and her family, with a focus on the connection between the two mothers. She was featured on Good Day LA and countless regional TV shows across the nation.
Benson's second book, Adopting Hope, is a collection of amazing stories from adoptive couples, birthparents and adoptees from all over the country. They have shared their tips, suggestions and lessons learned from their own experiences to help others who find themselves in the adoption world. Adopting Hope offers readers a community where no one has to feel alone on their journey. It’s a place to find answers from others who have already been in their shoes.
