Our Vision-
We believe every young person deserves equal opportunity to achieve success, regardless of their race, gender, or socioeconomic status. Our vision is to make this a reality for all of our city’s boys and young men of color, each and every one of whom is critical to our collective success. By realizing this vision, we are creating a brighter, more promising future not just for our boys and young men of color, but for the entire Nashville community.
MBK Nashville is a movement to build a community, network and infrastructure with the goal of helping boys and young men of color (BYMOC) achieve in life. The movement focuses on achievement through six milestones. MBK Nashville seeks to improve outcomes for boys and young men of color in Nashville by igniting efforts in all sectors of society.
 The six milestones are:

Getting a Healthy Start and Entering School Ready to Learn

Reading at Grade Level by Third Grade

Graduating from High School Ready for College and Career

Completing Postsecondary Education or Training

Successfully Entering the Workforce

Keeping Kids on Track and Giving Them Second Chances

MBK sets to accomplish its goal and reach milestones by:

Reviewing and recommending policy to eliminate inequitable barriers

Convening programs and resources to encourage collaboration and build capacity

Communicate ‘what works’ or success stories to celebrate positive gains. Also communicates ‘challenges’ that the community faces when seeking these milestones to encourage innovation to address the challenge.

Create consistent opportunities for the community to socially gather and share, making the world a classroom in which BYMOC can have a continuous education thoughout life.

Encourage funders to support the work of the network
